Cragmor Christian
Reformed Church
began in 1959.
The Christian Reformed denomination
helped us with funding
and expertise.
At first the group was small,
made up primarily of young families
who had moved from
Minnesota.
Soon we grew with numerous people
from the neighborhood.
Around 200 people
from all around Colorado Springs
gather to worship at Cragmor each Sunday morning.
If
you come, you will quickly notice that we have people from every age in life, and the people in various age groups know and
love people from other age groups. We have a number of children and youth, young couples and retired members.
We believe that a church is a family, the family of God. We believe that it is important for all our ages to worship together--with
the exception of infants and toddlers who have a safe and loving nursery and our younger children who attend a children's
worship mid-way through our worship services. If you come, you might see some wonderful blessings like these that happened
in recent years:
- A girl, 6, puts one of
her two quarters she got from her tooth-fairy-parents in a special offering for a member nine times her age who needed a new
van for her wheel-chair.
- A woman in her late 50s
setting out her special cookies. Nearly every kid in church looks in the bulletin to see if it's the "cookie lady's"
turn at refreshments.
- Potlucks on the last Sunday
of the month.
- The entire church erupting
into applause and songs of praise when a couple who, after waiting a long time, announced the adoption of a baby girl. There
was not a dry-eye in the place, for we share our love for each other.
- Cards,
and meals, and visits whenever someone is sick or loses a loved one. We share each other's struggles.
- A handful of people building a wheel-chair ramp at someone's
house.
- New members with gray hair, and new members who
are in high school.
- A family stopping at our
food pantry, and the same family returning several months later to share the joy of a new job.
