The Cragmor Mission

Here at Cragmor Christian Reformed Church, we spend a lot of time praying and seeking who God has called us to be to each other and to the surrounding community. Throughout the last couple of years, our team has spent countless hours looking inward at what we’re doing well and how we can improve. We believe deeply that we’re called to constantly look inward and hold ourselves accountable to what God is wanting to do through us within the larger scope of his Kingdom! Through this process, we redefined our mission, vision, and who we are as a church and want to share that with all of you!

Mission: Go. Proclaim. Make Disciples.

This mission is pulled straight from the Great Commission that Jesus gave his disciples after his resurrection before leaving this earth. This comes out of Matthew 28:18-20, “Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” To summarize that, we defined our mission as a church and that’s for us to “Go. Proclaim. Make Disciples.”

GO.

This is a natural occurrence, not only every week as we leave church, but every day as we go to work, go to the store, go to a friend’s house, go to the gym, go on a hike, etc. More broadly explained, this could also read “as you go.” As you go, be aware of what God is doing and calling you to, because we all inevitable are going somewhere and are called to be the hands and feet of Jesus as we do.

PROCLAIM.

This doesn’t just mean to verbally preach everywhere you go. It doesn’t mean to stand on a street corner preaching, although it may if that’s what God has called you to do! However, we can proclaim the goodness of the God through acts of kindness, service, or something as simple as paying for someone else’s meal or groceries. We proclaim through the love of Jesus that we’ve all experienced and are called to take to others.

MAKE DISCIPLES.

We take this very seriously. Our goal isn’t only to leave it at the act of kindness, or even to have a higher church attendance. Rather, we want to see people grow deeper in their relationship with Jesus and take on this mission for themselves. After all, everyone who accepts Jesus is a part of the church and this is the collective mission of all Christians, to “...go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” We firmly believe that disciples makes disciples.

Over our next few blog posts, we will be unpacking our values and our tagline to explain who we are as a church, and how we aim to accomplish that. The most important thing to understand in this journey is the overall mission that God has called us to in his Kingdom. At Cragmor, we refuse to be stagnant and even to be comfortable with where we’re at. We crave the opportunities to show the love of Jesus to everyone that God puts in our path and are excited for the journey ahead!

If you have questions about our mission or how to be involved, don’t hesitate to reach out and ask questions!

God bless.
