Thanks for visiting our site; we invite you to join us for worship at 9:30 am on Sundays.
On the first Sunday of the month, we celebrate the Lord’s Supper; a potluck meal follows the worship service (excluding holidays).
Our education ministry for preschool through adults meets after the worship service (11:00 am) on the remaining Sundays during the school year.
Mighty Fortress – A Prayer for God’s People
(from 10/8/17 congregational prayer at Cragmor)
Mighty Fortress, May we bring joy to you and reflect your glory in our worship today. But, even as we call you Our Mighty Fortress, we feel vulnerable, afraid, and discouraged. We see evil around us, and we need to be reminded that you are a shelter in the midst of the storms raging around us and within us.
God of all comfort, we come to you this week and lift up those who mourn. It has been a week where we seek understanding and peace in the midst of chaos and pain. We are too weary to even engage in the conversations about senseless violence. We pray for the injured people who will live with permanent injuries and for the families and friends who lost loved ones this week. We pray for the first responders and others who assisted and cared for the wounded and injured. Give these men and women your grace and healing as they continue to serve and protect our communities.
We look around and fill our lives with things and activities, so we don’t have to face the emptiness and questions. We ask, Jesus, that you would meet us in the questions and doubts as you did Thomas. We are in desperate need of your love and grace. We so want your kingdom of kindness and justice to come, but we ignore the promptings of your Spirit to show kindness to people in our lives at home, work, school, and neighborhood. We want justice for our situations but hurry on with our lives when others experience injustice.
In the midst of this darkness, our eyes have been lifted to the bright blue sky, white snow on the mountains and the stunning yellow, red, and orange leaves on the trees. We have celebrated birthdays, anniversaries, success at work and school. We want to live lives of gratitude not bitterness and fear.
You call us to remember times of joy and laughter so we can look beyond today and find strength for tomorrow. You call us to bring comfort and aid to those in need so they will have hope for tomorrow. We thank you that you stretch and use us. You have called us not just to be with you in heaven, but you call us to good works here on earth. Each new day reminds us to rely on the Holy Spirit and not our strength. At the end of the day, open our minds and eyes to see where You were in our day.
In Jesus Name. Amen.
