7/11/2016 – A message from Pastor Todd–

Members and Friends of Cragmor Church–

During our service on Sunday 7/10/2016, we took some special time to pray about the violence in our nation.  As part of that prayer, we specifically named the two men who were killed in Minnesota (Philando Castile) and Louisiana (Alton Sterling).  We also prayed for the family and friends of the five officers who lost their lives in Dallas.  However, I failed to mention them by name.  Please pray for the families and friends of Lorne Ahrens, Michael Krol, Michael J. Smith, Brent Thompson, and Patrick Zamarripa, the officers who were killed in the line of duty protecting and serving people in Dallas.

Please continue to pray for our country.  Pray for justice, for reconciliation, for peace, and for a revival.  Pray for the communities and families who have lost loved ones.  Pray for first responders, for city leaders and police chiefs, for judges and district attorneys.  Pray for those in our city and country who feel (and in many cases are) marginalized, discriminated against, powerless, and devalued.  Pray for police officers and their families as they deal daily with fear and anxiety in doing their job.  (Officer H. and Officer B. are connected to Cragmor).  Pray that we, the people of God, would lead the way for our country on the path of peace, reconciliation, conversation, and love.

And do more than pray!  Live with hope, courage, and boldness knowing that He who is in us is greater than he who is in the world.  As God prompts you, respond in word and deed with love and kindness.  During dark times the people of God—the city on a hill—have an opportunity to shine more brightly for Christ and His Kingdom.  May we make the most of this opportunity and may God use us to do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with God.

I will be meeting with some area pastors on Wednesday for prayer. There will be discussions about a city-wide gathering.  I will let our congregation know more when I know more.

Grace and Peace to you,

Pastor Todd
